Types of Implant-Supported Prostheses

Depending on the clinical situation and the patient’s comfort expectations, we apply two main treatment approaches in our clinics:

1. Fixed Implant-Supported Prostheses (Crowns and Bridges)

These are prostheses that cannot be removed by the patient and are either screwed or cemented directly onto implants.

  • Single-Tooth Implant Crown: Replaces a missing tooth without affecting neighboring teeth.
  • Hybrid Prostheses: Used in full edentulism cases with All-on-4 or All-on-6 techniques, providing fixed solutions without covering the palate.
  • Advantage: Functions like your natural teeth and requires no additional care beyond regular brushing.

2. Removable Implant-Supported Prostheses (Overdentures – Snap Systems)

Typically used when bone volume does not allow for fixed prostheses, these systems are attached to 2 or 4 implants using locator or ball attachment mechanisms.

  • Advantage: Since the denture locks onto the implants, it does not move or slip while eating or speaking. It can be removed by the patient for easy cleaning.

  • Will I be without teeth during treatment? No. During the implant integration period (3–6 months), temporary prostheses are provided so you can continue your social life comfortably.
  • Can fixed implant prostheses be applied to every jaw? With advanced surgical techniques and bone grafting procedures, fixed prostheses can be applied in most cases of bone loss. A detailed 3D tomography analysis is required.
